A Clear Start Before Your Kitten Comes Home
Before a kitten meets you, it is not simply waiting to be collected. From birth to handover, NekoTown works with trusted international breeders, registered veterinarians and pet transport teams so each kitten has a stronger foundation for home life, clear health and identity records, and the documentation required for entry into Singapore.
Trusted International Breeder Background and Parent Credentials
NekoTown works with trusted international breeders who follow responsible breeding standards. Each NekoTown kitten is registered with a recognised cat association, such as The International Cat Association (TICA), World Cat Federation (WCF), Fédération Internationale Féline (FIFe), or the Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA), depending on its breeder and pedigree records.
Where a kitten’s parents have show or award credentials, such as champion titles, show placements, regional or national rankings, Best Kitten, Best of Breed, or Best of Class awards, this is stated in the kitten’s individual profile or introduction rather than assumed for every kitten. Litter Box Training Before Handover
In the breeder’s familiar home environment, the kitten is introduced to a litter box and observed for regular toilet habits. Where available, NekoTown records the kitten’s previous litter type and daily routine so the handover is based on the kitten’s established habits.
Kitten Dry Food and Wet Food Readiness
After weaning, the kitten learns to eat kitten dry food independently. It may also be introduced to complete kitten wet food in different textures, such as mousse, pâté, or small pieces in gravy. This helps the kitten build acceptance of different food formats before any future diet adjustment is needed.
The World Small Animal Veterinary Association’s nutrition guidance recommends choosing food that is complete and appropriate for the animal’s species, life stage and individual needs. At handover, we explain the food the kitten is currently eating so the family can keep the transition gradual.
Early Kitten Socialisation From 2 to 9 Weeks
The kitten grows with the breeder and littermates while being gently exposed to people, household sounds, handling, grooming, paw touching, nail trimming and play. The Feline Veterinary Medical Association describes the sensitive socialisation period as occurring roughly between 2 and 9 weeks of age.

Core Kitten Vaccinations for FPV, FHV-1 and FCV
When age and health condition allow, a veterinarian arranges at least two basic kitten vaccinations before handover. Common feline core combination vaccines cover feline panleukopaenia virus (FPV), feline herpesvirus type 1 (FHV-1), and feline calicivirus (FCV).
The 2024 WSAVA vaccination guidelines state that core kitten vaccination may start no earlier than 6 weeks, with doses generally repeated every 3 to 4 weeks until 16 weeks of age. The vaccination record is prepared so a registered veterinarian in Singapore can continue the remaining schedule according to the kitten’s age, previous vaccination dates, living environment and vaccine instructions. Rabies vaccination and related testing follow the applicable AVS requirements for the exporting country or region.
ISO Microchip Identity for Singapore Cat Import Records
Each kitten is implanted with its own microchip, and the number is recorded across the relevant vaccination, treatment, health and travel documents. For cats imported into Singapore, AVS requires a microchip that meets ISO Standard 11784 or ISO Standard 11785 Annex A, with the microchip number shown in the relevant records.
The microchip provides a permanent identity number that can be read by a scanner. It is also used for cat licensing and identity registration with AVS; it is separate from GPS tracking.
Veterinary Health Checks Before Kitten Travel
During growth and travel preparation, the kitten receives at least two veterinary checks. Depending on the kitten and appointment, these may cover body weight and growth condition, heart and lung sounds, eyes and ears, mouth, skin and coat, abdominal palpation, temperature, toilet condition and overall alertness.
These examinations document the kitten’s condition at the time of assessment and help identify concerns before travel. Future health still depends on continued observation, nutrition, preventive care and veterinary assessment after handover.
Kitten Deworming and Parasite Treatment Records
NekoTown’s handover records usually include deworming around 2 months old, another round around 3 months old, and internal and external parasite treatment shortly before travel to Singapore. Kittens can be exposed to intestinal parasites through the mother, littermates or their environment, so treatment is planned around the kitten’s age, weight, medication, environment and veterinary guidance.
The Companion Animal Parasite Council recommends more frequent parasite management and faecal examinations for kittens during the first year. The dates and products recorded for an individual kitten provide the basis for its next veterinary plan.
AVS Import Preparation for Kittens Entering Singapore
For overseas kittens entering Singapore, the preparation follows the AVS conditions that apply to the exporting country or region’s rabies-risk schedule. Current AVS guidance requires an imported dog or cat to be at least 12 weeks old at export and requires internal and external parasite treatment between 2 and 7 days before export.
The travel file also includes the applicable veterinary certificate and supporting import documents. Vaccination, rabies testing and quarantine requirements vary by country or region, so the exact route is checked for the individual kitten rather than treated as one universal checklist. Kitten Health, Identity and AVS Document File
At handover, the kitten’s file may include its date of birth and basic profile, vaccine names and dates, microchip number, veterinary health-check records, internal and external parasite-treatment dates, current dry and wet food information, previous litter habits where available, applicable AVS import documents and the veterinary health certificate.
